Hahafsaka Hagdola (ההפסקה הגדולה) was choreographed by Irit (Sasson) Eskayo in 1988. The (very silly) song is sung by Tsipi Shavit – you can download the song here and read the lyrics in English or Hebrew. The title means “the big recess,” aka summer vacation!
Here is me teaching this dance (May 2024):
Here is the full dance with a small group (of wonderful staff members from 10 different camps!):
Here is the full cohort of Cornerstone 2024 Fellows and Supervisors doing the dance the very first night they arrived!
You can also watch the original video of Irit showing the dance in Israel when it first came out.
Enjoy – and let me know if you use it at your camp or school!
